Helix Collective’s 10-piece film-music ensemble performs original soundtracks from the 1920-80s by composers from countries which formerly comprised the Soviet Union.
Music from iconic films including “It’s a Wonderful Life” with a score by Dimitri Tiomkin, "Man with a Movie Camera," one of the earliest depictions of the cities of Ukraine on film, “The Gadfly” with music by Dimitri Shostakovich, "The Cranes are Flying," and "The Snowstorm."
Film highlights will accompany the original soundtracks, songs, and the most striking musical moments from the films.
This performance is made possible in part by the City of Culver City and its Cultural Affairs Commission and by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Department of Arts and Culture through the OGP grant program, with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment. Come meet musicians, explore instruments, and hear Giggle Giggle Quack come to life!

Helix Collective will be dressed in our 1940s best for the concert. Feel free to dress up to join us!
The celebration is free to attend and is presented by the Russian-speaking board of West Hollywood.
